Helen YU
Helen Yu is an Associate Professor and the Associate Director of the Value Based Health and Care Academy at Swansea University. Her research focuses on how the law can support the responsible development, sustainable implementation, and strategic procurement of new innovations from a value based health and care perspective, particularly in the biomedical and healthcare fields.
Helen holds a degree in neuroscience and practiced as an intellectual property lawyer and registered patent agent in Canada before pursuing an academic career. Helen brings real-world experience and knowledge on how to navigate the challenging space where science, business, politics, societal interests, and law intersects. Because of her combined private practice and academic experience in an international setting, Helen has been invited to act as an expert consultant to key global organizations, including the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development and the World Intellectual Property Organization on how to transform knowledge into impactful action.
