Giannis SOTIRIOU

Giannis Sotiriou is the CEO of the Institute of Pharmaceutical Research and Technology, a subsidiary of the National Organization for Medicines (EOF). He holds more than 14 years of experience in innovation development, digital transformation, and business restructuring, both in Greece and USA. Giannis has been focusing on managing the complete cycle of the transformation of organizations by envisioning their future in the digital and business ecosystem and guiding them through their transformation journey.

He has previously worked as the Head of Innovation & Strategy at Optima Foods Inc., one of the fastest growing Greek food distribution companies in the USA. He has also served as COO at the General Hospital of Serres, where he designed the hospital’s long-term digital transformation & operational business plan. Additionally, during his term, he completed a series of educational programs and certifications including: “Hospital Management” by the World Health Organization, “Service and Crisis Management in Healthcare” by the National Centre for Health Operations, “Building Quality Culture in Healthcare”, “Education for People with Disabilities” and more.

He holds an MBA from Case Western Reserve University, USA and is a graduate of the Department of Operational Research & Marketing of the Athens University of Economics and Business. He is actively involved in the UNESCO Club of Serres, the CSR Hellas network, and Junior Achievement Greece as Inspirational Mentor. His research interests focus on innovation management, knowledge dissemination and business model design.
